Since the signing of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (EUGAA) in 2014, CSRDG has been promoting the multi-faceted engagement of Georgia's regional public organizations in monitoring and advocating for the timely and proper implementation of the agreement.

The aim of the program is to bring to the public what obligations the Association Agreement provides for. Since it is necessary for the civil society to control the process of the implementation of the association agreement and to demand the authorities to fulfill it properly, it is necessary to involve more civil society organizations in the European integration of the country.

In 2017-2020, we developed 13 expert assessments of the implementation of the Association Agreement, conducted 24 trainings for up to 500 representatives of public organizations, on 30 topics of the European Association Agreement, prepared 36 short explanatory videos on issues related to association, and gave 31 grants to local/regional public organizations. However, the main challenge was the nature of association-related reforms, which need considerable time to translate into concrete actions at the municipal level.

Main activities of the program:

• Preparation of expert assessments on the fulfillment of the obligations imposed by the association agreement and visualization of the state of fulfillment of the obligations imposed by the results obtained
• trainings for representatives of public organizations on up to 30 issues of association agreement;
• Open access to affiliate agreement short explanation videos and related questions
• Small grants (€5,000-€10,000) for monitoring and advocacy at the local/regional level for the implementation of the obligation under the association agreement

Unique Area of Expertise

• Thorough knowledge of issues related to association agreements, including technical issues such as food safety, environmental protection, energy, transport, finance, labor rights, consumer rights, intellectual property protection, competition, etc.
• Experience in training public organizations in a range of Association Agreement issues
• Experience in facilitating the development of project ideas by local public organizations on monitoring and advocating the implementation of association agreements with high-level industry experts and CSRDG project development experts
• Ability and expertise to explain and visualize complex association agreement issues through very short (3-7 min), easy to understand videos
• Developed web platform - ASOCIREBA.GE for easy access to the text of the Association Agreement, its explanatory materials and implementation status
